Green investment

Maritime solar solutions represent one of the most effective and visible green investments in reducing environmental impact within the industry, whereby you can actually visualize the savings in kWh, fuel and CO2.

Maritime solar solutions benefits

Fuel consumption reduction

By using our maritime solar energy solutions on your vessels, you decrease fuel consumption, aswell as the operating costs of your generators.

EU ETS

Reducing fuel consumption also means reducing greenhouse gas emissions, cutting tons of CO2 emissions from your vessels CII-record and also from your ETS carbon taxes, which will be at 100% as of 2026.

FuelEU Maritime

From January 2025 onwards the FuelEU Maritime regulation says that at least 2% of the energy onboard should be generated by alternative fuels or energy sources. Annex III of the FuelEU maritime regulation confirms that solar energy is accepted as zero-emission technology.

Not complying to this regulation will mean that the shipowner is penalised with a € 2.400,- fine per ton of fuel of your annual fuel consumption. As from 2030 this will be 6% and gradually increased until 2050.

IMO MEPC 83

Draft regulations will set mandatory marine fuel standard and GHG emissions pricing for global shipping to address climate change, to be finalised during IMO MEPC 84, which is scheduled for September 2025.

As from 2028 there will be a two-Tier GHG pricing mechanism, mandatory GHG Fuel Intensity (GFI) standards and financial rewards for clean technologies on ships ≥ 5,000 GT, which will exponentially contribute to sustainable investments like maritime solar solutions.

Payback possible within 3 years

Marine-PV maritime solar solutions are proven with references on PCTC, RO-RO and Bulk carrier vessels. This is the most visible sustainable technology and it has a payback period of less than three years when sailing EU-waters.

Unique safety feature

Unique on our Marine-PV solar system is an in-house designed and fully ABS approved microinverter, which keeps the DC voltage at a much lower value than the traditional string-inverters, making this maritime solar system safe to use in the marine environment.

Next to this feature, Marine-PV also offers a specially designed basalt fiber structure support system, which isolates the contact(electrical- & corrosion-wise) between the solar panels and the carbon steel from your vessel.
